Friday night we built the stage, tapped a keg of Hoppy Boy, slow
cooked a few pork shoulders and picked all night. About 2 am we started to watch
the snowflakes, and by sun up it looked like there would be no pig out this
year. I went to bed at about 10 am, after calling the sound crew and telling
them the gig was off. When I got up at 2, there were about 150 people here,
and the party was in full swing. We wound up with 200 folks here, a third of
them playing music. At one point we had five acts performing concurrently, and
all thoughts of organization was thrown out the window. Viva la pig out, hope
you'll be here for number five!
Many, many thanks to our chef crew, Paul Blanchard and Rob
Clark, for dealing with it all, and to all the many hands that helped put
things together - Butch, great job on the tarp! And dad, NO MORE SHOVELING!

Here's one of the jams that went down... The only thing better than one fiddle is two fiddles, the
only thing better than two fiddles is... and the only thing better than three fiddles is... We broke down and opened up the house, where the incredible
All Night Honkytonk Allstars played later in the day after this jam. We also reversed the no fire rule and had ourselves a barrel
fire out by the cook station. High on the Hog SNOWJAM Big thanks to the Sugarloaf String Band, High on the Hog,
Tall Trees Grove, Shanti Groove, and the All Night Honkytonk Allstars for
playing despite the weather, and to the Stanleytones for their support.
